Dear all,

After literally decades of frustration over the lack of a decent solution for managing timecodes in film manuscripts, I've finally built one myself.

The Filmtext-o-Mat lets you:

  • watch the film in the same window while you write
  • use keyboard shortcuts so you almost never have to take your hands off the keys
  • export the text as a Word file, Excel spreadsheet, and even subtitles
  • It has an auto-save feature
  • stop worrying about those damn timecodes

The whole thing is packaged as a tiny .html file and should run in any browser (though I've only tested it with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge — reports from other browsers are welcome).

The app is self-explanatory, but there's also a manual.

The German version can be downloaded here.

The English version can be downloaded here.

Any feedback — such as ideas for new features — is welcome!
